Work with people who take AI seriously — without the hype
We are a small, focused team helping Hong Kong organisations find and apply AI where it genuinely fits their work.
Back to HomeFounded with a specific gap in mind
Catalect was established in Wan Chai by practitioners who had spent years inside organisations — watching AI projects start with enthusiasm and frequently stall at integration. The gap was rarely technical capability. It was a mismatch between what vendors promised and what operations teams could realistically absorb.
We started with the premise that most organisations do not need a comprehensive AI transformation — they need two or three well-chosen applications that save real time, reduce real errors, or surface real insight. Finding and building those specific applications, carefully, is what we do.
Hong Kong's particular character — the density of multilingual commerce, the mix of regional and international operations, the practical, results-oriented business culture — shapes how we work. Our translation service exists because the Cantonese, Mandarin, and English boundary creates friction for nearly every business we have spoken with here. Our discovery workshop exists because organisations benefit from structured thinking before committing to any build.
Our Mission
To help Hong Kong organisations find the AI applications worth building — and build them in a way that actually works in practice.
Our Approach
Listen first, scope carefully, calibrate deliberately. We do not begin implementation without understanding your workflows, your data, and your tolerance for change.
Our Values
Honesty about what AI can and cannot do. Respect for the pace at which your team can adapt. Preference for small, well-executed wins over ambitious projects that do not deliver.

Standards we hold ourselves to
Data Privacy
All client data is handled in accordance with Hong Kong's Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance. We do not use client operational data to train models for other clients.
Clear Scope Agreements
Every project begins with a written scope document. If the work changes, we revisit the agreement together rather than absorbing or passing on costs silently.
Calibration Before Launch
AI models are tested against your actual data before going live. We adjust thresholds, retrain where needed, and validate performance with your team before handover.
Documented Handovers
Every delivery includes technical documentation and a plain-language guide for operations staff. We want your team to understand what they are running, not depend on us indefinitely.
Honest Communication
We will tell you if something is unlikely to work, if your data is insufficient, or if a simpler approach would serve you better. Candour is more useful than agreement.
Post-Launch Support
We offer a 60-day support period following each deployment to address questions, resolve unexpected behaviour, and make minor adjustments as you begin using the system in earnest.
AI services shaped by real operational experience
Catalect occupies a particular position in Hong Kong's AI services landscape: we are small enough to engage closely with each client, and experienced enough to move purposefully through scoping, configuration, and integration. We do not operate at the scale of large consultancies, nor do we sell off-the-shelf software with limited adaptation. Our work sits between those two approaches.
The organisations that benefit most from working with us tend to share a few characteristics. They have real operational data — maintenance logs, multilingual content, business process records — but have not yet systematically applied AI to it. They are open to the idea that AI could help, but appropriately cautious about overstating what it will deliver. And they prefer a working relationship built on clarity over one built on enthusiasm.
Our location in Wan Chai reflects our understanding of where Hong Kong business is conducted — the professional services corridor, the technology firms on both sides of the harbour, the logistics and property operations that form a substantial part of the economy. We are accessible, engaged with the local business community, and available in person for clients who prefer face-to-face working sessions.
